The programme provides advanced education to enable midwives deliver quality, equitable and accessible healthcare services to individuals, families and communities in the country. At the programme completion, the graduates are able to take leadership roles in the healthcare profession and influence practice, administration, education and policy. The Master of Science in Midwifery is a full time and blended program. Students will pursue both face to face and online modules on a block release. In the first-year, students will study the following: • Biosciences for advanced nursing and midwifery practice, • Conceptual and Theoretical Models of Nursing, • Leadership and Management, • Bioethics, Nursing Education, • Research Methods and Statistics, • Health Policy, • Planning and Financing, • Advanced Midwifery Science as a basis for advanced nursing and midwifery practice and understanding how roles of advanced practice nurse/midwives impact delivery systems. During the second year, the focus will be on: • Integrated Advanced Midwifery Practicum, • Advanced Neonatal Sciences – theory and Practicum, • Community Midwifery • a dissertation

Fees for the Programme
Successful applicants will be required to pay MWK3,751,530 for Malawian nationals and USD5,175 for SADC students payable in two instalments. International students from countries outside the SADC region will pay USD8,383 . Half of the fees must be paid during registration at the beginning of the first semester.
