This is a full-time programme delivered on a modular basis. The first part takes two years (year 1 and 2) and covers content of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program excluding the dissertation. The second part (year 3 and 4) focuses on practicals and will largely be taken in accredited training posts in various locations including public health institutes, district hospitals, zonal, central hospital, NGO and academic institutions. Students will rotate in different sections to ensure that they gain all the core competencies in public health. Completion of part 1 is a prerequisite for part two of the programme. At the completion of a dissertation and terminal examination assesses the competences of the candidate and those who pass receive the Degree of Master of Medicine (MMED) Public Health and become eligible for specialist public health appointments. At the same time a portfolio of work is presented identifying the way the competencies have been reached.

Fees for the Programme

Successful applicants will be required to pay the Malawi Kwacha equivalent of USD3,300 for Malawian nationals and USD6,000 for SADC students payable in two instalments. International students from countries outside the SADC region will pay USD8,000 . Half of the fees must be paid during registration at the beginning of the first semester.
