Overview
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a 3-4 year research-focused degree programme requiring students to develop research questions, conduct research and communicate the findings by writing thesis and publications. Thus, our PhD graduates are expected to develop into leaders who can generate novel interventions or approaches to address health-related problems. You can register with Pathology Department if you want to specialize in Microbiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Parasitology, Immunology, Molecular Microbiology, Haematology and Anatomical Pathology.
Applications for this postgraduate programme should include:
1. A completed postgraduate application form.
2. Sealed academic transcripts
3. Authenticated copies of academic certificates (by a lawyer, magistrate, or
registrar of the awarding institution)
4. Authenticated copies of professional registration certificates where applicable
5. Letter of release from employers (if employed)
6. Reference letters (one academic and one professional)
Applicants are strongly advised to have preliminary discussions with the relevant Heads of academic departments at KUHeS or Project Directors to enable matching the prospective student to supervisors or research groups and to develop research concepts before applying. Applicants without approved research concepts and supervisors will not be shortlisted.
Those applying for PhDs within the Department of Pathology should contact Dr Tonney Nyirenda (hodpathology@kuhes.ac.mw).
KUHeS accepts MPhil/PhD applications all year round but candidates can commence their studies in March and September each year.
